Muriel Jean Kemp, 81, of Tulare died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in Tulare. Muriel was born in Detroit, Mich., on July 22, 1918, to Esther and George Brown. She was raised and educated in South Bend, Ind.
On June 1, 1940, she married Richard P. Kemp, and the couple made their home in Rogers, Ark., for many years. In 1957, Muriel moved to Buena Park. In 1969, she moved to Delano and eventually settled in Tulare in 1983.
Muriel spent most of her working years as a bookkeeper. She worked for Perelli Menetti Winery for 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Rogers, Ark., and belonged to the Business and Professional Women of Delano. She was an avid bunko, canasta and bingo player and made years of cherished memories for her family.
Muriel is survived by her children, Ruth Ann Schwarz of Chadron, Neb., Jo Ann Ahrens of Orange, New South Wales, Australia, Helen Ester Boyd of Tulare, Richard Kemp Jr. of Bakersfield, James Kemp of McKinney, Texas, and Debra Boling of Tulare; a sister, Carol Troeger of Granger, Ind., 15 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at GobleMiller Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Optimal Hospice, 5429 W. Avenida De Las Robles, Visalia, CA 93277.
