SOUTH BEND Victor J. Bernero, 78, of Rue Renoir, died at 10 a.m. Thursday in his home after an illness. Mr. Bernero was a retired salesman. He was born Aug. 1, 1917, in South Bend.

His wife, Marilyn Dustman Bernero, died Aug. 22, 1972.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Dale Dustman of South Bend.

He was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

Services will b be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the mausoleum of Highland Cemetery. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
