Benedict S. (Ben) Bajdek

Benedict S. Bajdek, 62, of 1838 N. Huey, died Tuesday at home after being ill three months. He retired in 1967 from the South Bend® Fire Department, and worked for Mike Bajdek's Mobil station.

Born on June 16, 1919, in South Bend, he lived here all his life. On Aug. 9, 1943, in California, he married Esther Krzyzaniak. She survives with five sons, Patrick of Tulsa, Okla., Thomas and John, both of South Bend, James of Mishawaka, and Michael of Wyoming, Mich.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Miller and Mrs. Virginia Herek, both of South Bend; and a brother, Michael, of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Leo Wojciechowski, C.S.C., will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

He was a World War II veteran, and past mander of VFW 8748; and past president of the Indiana Fire Fighters Association
