Chester R. Ross

SOUTH BEND - Chester Robert Ross, 76, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died Saturday in Edward White Hospital, St. Petersburg, of natural causes. Mr. Ross retired from U.S. Postal Service, South Bend, after 30 years of service.

He was born Sept. 12, 1919, in South Bend, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1983.

On April 16, 1938, in South Bend, he married Helen Poikus. She survives with two daughters, Judy Bragg of Lakeville and Karen Schwelnus of South Bend; two sons, Robert of South Bend and Ron of Cassopolis; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Nancy Mendoza, died in 1991.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

There will be no services or visitation. Southern Funeral & Memorial Services, St. Petersburg, handled arrangements.
