Bill Joseph Horvath - Class Of 1937 VIEW PROFILE

William J. Horvath Sr., 59, of 301 E. Washington, Lakeville, who was St. Joseph County Councilman for District I from 1974-76, died at 4:45 a.m. today at the Veterans Hospital in Fort Wayne after an extended illness. He was a self-employed salesman for Bungalow Pie Co., and formerly taught in the Lakeville, Bristol and Edwardsburg schools.

He was born Nov. 27, 1917, in South Bend and moved to Lakeville from South Bend 25 years ago.

On June 1, 1946, in South Bend, he married Sophie Wawrzyniak, who survives with three sons, Michael of Lakeville, George of South Bend, and William Jr., at home; three daughters, Mrs. Carmela Worm and Miss Martina Horvath, both of Lakeville, and Miss Virginia Horvath, at home; three grandchildren; five brothers, Fabian, Emil, Alex and Edward, all of South Bend, and Joseph of Woodburn, Ind., and a sister, Kathryn (Dale) Fansler of Lakeville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Lakeville, with Rev. Anthony Molnar, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Lakeville. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Palmer Memorial Chapel, Lakeville, where a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday.

Horvath was a member of the Holy Name Society and American Legion Post No. 363 of Lakeville. He was a veteran of World War II.
