Paul Durwood Joers

SOUTH BEND -- Paul D. Joers, 95, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away of natural causes on July 7, 2007, in his son's residence.
Paul was born November 11, 1911, to Paul F. and Elsa (Lederer) Joers in South Bend, Indiana. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, David (Lois) Joers of South Bend; one daughter, Linda Ellis of South Bend; a sister, Jane Kile of South Bend; and four grandchildren, Terrence Patesel of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Joseph Richards of South Bend, Hollie Joers of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Stacey Miller of South Bend. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Raoul Joers, and a brother, Roy Joers.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, in the Garden of Christus on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where military honors will be provided by VFW Post #360 of Mishawaka.
Mr. Joers was a graduate of South Bend Central High School. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during W.W. II before his honorable discharge in 1945. He was also employed for 60 years in sales with the C.E. Lee Paint Company before his retirement in 1981. Paul was a member of the VFW and the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Bend.
