George L. Hammerschmidt, age 63, of 1837 Fairway, Munster, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 1973, St. Margaret Hospital.

Survivors: wife, Rosemary; one brother, Bruce C. Hammerschmidt of South Bend, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Martha) Waterhouse of Summit, N.J.; and several nieces.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 11:30 a.m. from the First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jack H. Barrell officiating. Interment, Elmwood da Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and will be conducted by the Garfield Lodge No. 569 F. &A.M. Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. at the Emmerling-Paddack Chapel, 6020 Hohman Ave., Hammond.

If desired, friends may make contributions in his memory to a charity of their choice.

Mr. Hammerschmidt was an Electrical Standards Engineer for the Norther Indiana Public Service Company for 37 years, was a registered professional engineer, and a member of various engineering societies. He was a member of Garfield Lodge No. 569 F.& A.M., the Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend, Orak Temple, a member of the board of the Lake Area United Way, a member of the Woodmar Country Club, and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Purdue University. He served as vice-president American Red Cross and was currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Northern Indiana Art Association
