Helen (Sobecki) Podemski

Helen J. Podemski, 94, who lived on W. Dunham St., South Bend, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2006, in St. Paul's Retirement Community.
She was born October 29, 1911, in South Bend, and was the daughter of the late Ignatius E. and Frances A. Sobecki. On October 15, 1934, as Helen Sobecki, she married Casimer A. Podemski who preceded her in death on November 25, 1995. Also preceding Helen in death were her sister, Gertrude Rafalski; and brothers, Dr. Clement T. Sobecki, and Dr. Raymond Sobecki.
Helen is survived by son, Thomas E. (Carol A.) Podemski of South Bend; grandson, Keith T. (Lynda R. Podemski; and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Ian of Granger, Ind.
Mrs. Podemski retired in 1973. She was employed by her brother, the late Dr. Clement Sobecki. Helen graduated from South Bend Central High School with the class of 1929. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the Civic Club, Altar Rosary Society, the Parish Council, Senior Citizens Club of St. Casimir and the Harvest Club of St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 6, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 7, 2006 at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend
