Ruth H. McCormick, age 96, of Geneva, formerly longtime resident of Winfield, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at her residence.

She was born June 5, 1912 in South Bend, IN the daughter of Joseph J. and Bertha (Brendahl) Niebauer.

Ruth was a Registered Nurse retired from Heinz V. A. Hospital in Maywood. She was a longtime and very active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winfield, was a member of the Young at Heart Club in Winfield and was also Women of the Year in Winfield in 1975. Mrs. McCormick remained very active delivering meals on wheels until she was eighty five years old. She also was a very talented craftsperson among them being skilled in woodworking, fabrics and needle work and also many others and she loved to play games. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy McCormick and Margaret (Howard) Johnston both of Geneva; six grandchildren, Paul McCormick of Wisconsin, David Johnston of Chicago, Rebecca (Mike) Riebe of West Chicago, Benjamin (Lillian) Johnston of Chicago, Rachel (fiance Massimo Simonetti) Johnston of Chicago and Sadie (James) Irvine of North Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Maggie Niebauer, Fred Niebauer, Cecelia Duchesne, Joseph and Robert Niebauer; grandson, Joel McCormick in 1998; son, James W. in 2008; and her husband, Earl who passed away in 1970.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (RT. 38), Geneva with Father Bruce Ludeke from St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva officiating.

Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am.
