Charles F. Hafron

Services for Charles F. Hafron, 80, of San Francisco, formerly of 323 W. Navarre St., who died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Feb 8, 1988, at Hill Haven Nursing Home, San Francisco, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, University of Notre Dame. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hickey Funeral Home Cleveland Road Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Heart Association or rhe Notre Dame Alumni Club.
Mr. Hafron retired from the South Bend Community School Corp. after 30 years service. He was a science teacher at the former Central High School and Riley High School and also was football coach at Riley.
He was born Sept. 15, 1907, in Toledo, and lived in South Bend until moving to San Francisco in 1964. On Aug. 3, 1935, in South Bend, he married Helen G. Grimm, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Heidi Bland of Dillwyn, Va.; a son, Rick of St. Louis; and six grandchildren.
He was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and played football under Knute Rockne. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having served as a captain in the Navy Reserve
