SOUTH BEND - Robert J. Curtin Jr., 84, of Fort Wayne, formerly of South Bend, died at 5 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after an illness. Mr. Curtin retired in 1976 after more than 20 years as a United States marshal.

He was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Chicago, but lived here most of his life until he moved to Fort Wayne 20 years ago.

Surviving are three nieces, Jean Tohulka of Fond du Lac, Wis., Mary Eileen Dunn of Kenosha, Wis., and Patricia Bovee of Florence, Wis.; two nephews, Kenneth D. Tohulak of Fond du Lac and Robert R. Tohulka of Milwaukee.

He was a University of Notre Dame graduate, a World War II Army veteran and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at McGann Funeral Home, 21275 W. Cleveland Road.
