Charles K. Barnes

SOUTH BEND - Charles Knapp Barnes, 79. of 1307 Alpine Drive, died about 4 p.m. Wednesday in his home Mr. Barnes retired in 1976 after 37 with Society Bank.

He was born years Oct. 23, 1911, in Syracuse. N.Y. and spent most of his life in this area.

On Jan. 16, 1937, in South Bend, he married Helen Ruth Rodgers. She survives with a daughter. Sharyl R Inlow of South Holland. Ill.; three sons, C. David of Sparta. NJ., D Michael of Romeo, Mich., and Robert W of Bristol; 13 grandchildren. two greatgrandchildren; and two brothers, Herbert T. and Al "Bud", both of Vestal, N. Y.

He was a member of First Christian Church for more than 50 years, where he was an elder and member of the Fellowship Class. He also was a member of Boy Scouts of America for more than 60 years, a member of Masonic Lodge 294, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and a charter member of Audubon Society.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church. The body was donated to the Indiana Anatomical Board. Indianapolis Friends may call one hour before services Saturday in the church. Welsheimer Funeral Home is In charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
