Vivian C. (Adler) Crawford

Vivian C. (Adler) Crawford, 94, of North Mechanic Street, Berrien Springs, Mich., a prayer warrior in the army of Jesus Christ, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, Nov. 1, from the Lakeland Continuing Care Center in Berrien Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs.

Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 3, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berrien Center Bible Church, the Gideon’s Bible Society or to the Lightbearer’s Association.

Vivian was born on Sept. 9, 1909, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Hugo and Eleanor (Funke) Adler. The family moved to Niles, Mich., in 1916. She later moved to South Bend, Ind., where she graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1928.

On April 1, 1934, she married Frank L. Crawford in South Bend.

They were instrumental in beginning a Grace Brethren Church in both South Bend and later in Berrien Springs. They moved to Berrien Springs in 1947 when her husband purchased the local shoe repair and new shoe store which they operated until retirement in the mid-1970s. Vivian was a student of the Bible and a known prayer warrior. She loved to discuss God’s Word and was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.  She was a member of Berrien Center Bible Church, the Gideon’s Bible Society Auxiliary and the Lightbearer’s Association.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Paulsen, and her beloved son-in-law, Dick Paulsen. She also leaves brothers Orville of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Robert of Niles; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Frank, preceded her to heaven on Aug. 28, 1997. Her sister Margaret also preceded her in death
