Joseph S. Nowak

Joseph S. Nowak, 70, of 3509 Woldhaven Drive, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday in his home after a brief Illness. He retired in 1976 as the manager of Armour and Co.

He was born on July 14, 1913, in South Bend, and was a lifetime area restdent.

On Sept. 19, 1940, he married Joyce Goss, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joellen M. Stout of South Bend; a son, James J. of Warsaw; five grandchildren; and his twin sister, Mrs. Marie Hoffer of South Bend.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Cathedral, with Most Rev. Joseph R. Crowley, rector, officiating, Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a 1934 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He was a member of VFW Post 1167, and the Holy Name Society of St. Matthew Cathedral
