SOUTH BEND - Sybil M. Jennings, 99, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012, at her home. Sybil was born on August 25, 1912, in Fulton County, Indiana. Sybil is survived by three sons, Eldon of San Diego, CA, Richard of South Bend and Douglas (Beverly) of Hudson, IL. She was also blessed by eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all surviving.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brothers, Eugene and Raymond; daughter-in-law, Anna (Eldon) Jennings; and her parents, Jacob Martin and Cora (Hornbeck) Galbreath.

Sybil lived almost her entire life in Clay Township, graduating from South Bend Central High School in 1930, and earning a Bachelor's degree in teaching from Manchester College in 1934.

She taught in township elementary schools until a few months after her marriage to Harold Jennings on January 15, 1938, in Wingate, IN. Later that year, she started her own business, Jennings Interview Service, which became one of the most prominent market research firms in South Bend. Her clients included national political polls as well as major food and drug manufacturers. Her company was featured in the South Bend Tribune Magazine on July 23, 1961. Sybil was also actively involved in and hosted a variety of functions for the Ladies Community Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the Clay Township Lions Club. She enjoyed traveling with her family, crocheting, and making crafts that she shared with family and friends. Sybil's sons appreciate the outstanding support of family, neighbors and the staff of Hospice Care.

A visitation will be held at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, on Saturday, July 14th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be a family celebration of life service on August 25th.
