Jay Hamilton Calvert, 51, of Darien, Conn., formerly of South Bend, Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Stamford, Conn., after suffering a heart attack. He had been director of personnel and labor relations for Chesebrough-Pond's Corp., New York City, the last eight years and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cory W. Calvert, 51386 Portage Hwy.

Mr. Calvert was born in South Bend Aug. 15, 1912, and was a graduate of Purdue University, Lafayette, where he received a master's degree in engineering in 1936.

He was a member of several organizations, including the American Management Assn. and the Industrial Relations Society. Surviving, besides his parents, are his widow, the former June Lippert; a daughter, Mrs. Carl R. Colombo of Woodside, N.Y.; a son, Jay Hamilton Jr. of Darien; a brother and three sisters.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Noroton Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Noroton, Conn.

The family asked that memorials be made to memorial scholarships at Purdue or Amherst College.
