Louise Mathilda (Bergland) Philipson

Louise M. Philipson, 86, of 9059 Arlington Drive, Ypsilanti, Mich., formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died at 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, in Saline, Mich.

She was born on June 29, 1912, in Boswell, Ind. She married Joseph H. Philipson on June 12, 1946, in South Bend. He died on Feb. 12, 1971, in Rochester, Ind.

She is survived by a son, William L. Philipson, of Ypsilanti; a brother, Ray Bergland, of North Liberty, Ind.; and by a sister, Mrs. Clyde (Dorothy) Reynolds of West Boylston, Mass. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Bergland.

Mrs. Philipson was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary and Alter Society at the church. She was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at Elkhart General Hospital and Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the Walley-MillsZimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, where a Rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Hire officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorials may be given to The Evangelical Home, 440 W. Russell St., Saline, MI 48176.
