Richard A. Taylor
Dec. 26, 1936 - March 2, 2021
SOUTH BEND, IN -

Richard Arthur Taylor entered his heavenly home on March 2, 2021 at the age of 84. Without pain or suffering, he passed into his Savior's presence peacefully in his sleep.

Richard (Dick) was born to the late Alfred and Ilo (Royce) Taylor in South Bend, IN on Dec. 26, 1936. Richard was a lifelong resident of South Bend, having attended both Adams and Central High Schools. Richard was blessed with a large and loving family. He was married to Phyllis Yoder for 32 years until her death. Together they raised four children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, Richard dedicated his children to the Lord, taking them faithfully to church, even teaching their Sunday school youth group. He was always active in his local church. It was at church that Richard met and married Jo Ann Everly on October 16, 1999 in South Bend, IN. Richard's greatest legacy is his unfailing love and devotion to his family.

Richard lived a long and full life, having served in the Army during the Korean war, and he had a truck driving career that spanned decades. He was an avid Norte Dame football fan, where for 26 years, he enjoyed ushering on game days. He also enjoyed tending his extensive vegetable garden and composing and playing music on both piano and guitar. But, his greatest joy was out on the water, boating or fishing with family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; his brother, Bruce Taylor; his sons, Patrick (Tara) and Rick (Carla) Taylor; his daughters, Linda Green and Kathy Baker; his stepsons, Ralph and Mark (Lori) McDonald; stepdaughter, Dawn (Angelo) Teofrio; along with 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Walker and Gail Biggs. Richard also had many beloved nieces and nephews whom he adored.

Visitation and Funeral services will both be held at Northway Church of Christ, 19525 Auten Rd., South Bend, IN 46637, with visitation on March 15, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral service with graveside farewell on March 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Richard will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northway Church of Christ in memory of Richard.
