Agnes Lucile “Lou” Michels Affelder

SOUTH BEND - Lucile M. Affelder, 83, of 1336 E. Cedar St., died at 7:15 a.m. today in her home. Mrs. Affelder retired as a secretary at St. Joseph's Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 31, 1908, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident.

On May 30, 1932, in South Bend, as Lucile Michels, she married Herbert P. Affelder. He died May 18, 1970.

She is survived by three sisters, Kay Lynch of Valparaiso, Helen Armstrong of South Bend, and Gertrude Greeley of North Palm Beach, Fla.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, past president of the Altar Society and St. Joseph's Medical Center Auxiliary. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, where a combined rosary will be said by the parish and Altar Society at 3:30 p.m.
