Frederick John LaFortune

Frederick J. LaFortune, retired national accounts manager in the liquefied petroleum marketing division of Warren-Gulf Petroleum, died Friday. He was 91. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home chapel, 1402 S. Boulder Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Calvary Cemetery chapel, 91st Street and Harvard Avenue, under the direction of Fitzgerald.
LaFortune was born March 21, 1906. He graduated from Central High School in South Bend, Ind.
In 1932, he moved to Tulsa and began working for Warren Petroleum in the traffic department. In 1939, he was transferred to the liquefied petroleum gas sales department. He advanced through the sales department and, at his retirement in 1971, LaFortune was the national accounts manager for the liquefied petroleum division of Warren Petroleum, now Warren-Gulf Petroleum. LaFortune was a member of the Church of the Madalene and attended Christ the King Church and Holy Family Cathedral. He was a member of the Petroleum Club of Tulsa and the Oaks Country Club.
LaFortune was the brother of Tulsa oilman and philanthropist J.A. LaFortune, an uncle of former Mayor Robert J. LaFortune and a great-uncle of Tulsa County District Attorney William LaFortune.
He is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Wood of Tulsa, Colette Pogue of Iowa City, Iowa, and Renee Harris of Heber Springs, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends are making donations to the LaFortune Cancer Center at St. John Medical Center, 1923 S. Utica Ave., or the American Heart Association, 2865 E. Skelly Drive.
