Helen P. White, 81, Bloomington, died Tuesday, February 14, 1989, in Bloomington Hospital. She was born September 12, 1907, in LaPorte, to Henry G. and Edna Vincent Phillips.

She worked as a laboratory technician at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church, Nashville Chapter 586 of the Order of Eastern Star, past matron of South Bend Chapter 2 of the Order of Eastern Star and past grand deputy of the Indiana Order of Eastern Star. An honorary life member of the Brown County Historical Society, she also was past president of the Brown County Mental Health Association and past president of the 10 O'Clock Line Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her husband, Charles H. White; two daughters, Patricia Stanz of Empire, Michigan, and Barbara Williams of Swayzee; three sisters, Francis May of South Bend and Mildred Roule and Marian Werner, both of LaPorte; five grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret Becknell. There was no service. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran School for the Deaf, 6861 East Nevada Street, Detroit, Michigan, 48234, c/o Dr. Herman Holstee. The Greene and Harrell Mortuary of Bloomington was in charge of arrangements.
