Mary Frances Harris

Mary Frances Harris, 82, of 2822 Birchwood Drive, died at 2:40 a.m. today, Jan 4, 1989, in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend. Miss Harris was a teacher and principal in Gary for 30 years. She was born Dec. 10, 1906, in South Bend, and lived in Gary from 1930 to 1972, when she returned to South Bend.

She is survived by a niece, Shirley Williamson of Indianapolis; a nephew, Carter Swartz of Florida; and several cousins.

She was a graduate of the former Central High School, South Bend, and Manchester College, North Manchester, Ind. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons, National Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and Christ the King Lutheran Church.

There will be no services or visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
