She was my great grandmother her Son James Edward Landen was my grandfather he passed at age 52 of cancer on October 27 1989. Grandma married Ralph Landen and had 3 children Thomas, Patricia and James. She loved her family and her church.

SOUTH BEND - Helen M. Landen, 87, of Fountainview Place, LaPorte, formerly of 1517 O'Brien St., died at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday in LaPorte Hospital after an illness.

Mrs. Landen was a former employee of Studebaker Corp. as a clerical worker. She was born July 6, 1907, in Donaldson, and was a lifelong area resident. On Sept. 11, 1926, in South Bend, as Helen M. Baum, she married Ralph A. Landen. He survives with a daughter, Patricia A. Strycker of LaPorte; a son, Tom G. of South Bend; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, James, died in 1989.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, African Violet Club; past president of PTA of Marquette and Central School, PTA Council of South Bend, Goodwill Womens Auxiliary; and a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
