Cora Mary (Wood) Shetler

Cora Mary (Wood) Shetler, 61, of 109 Evergreen Road, was pronounced dead on arrival Monday at Leila Hospital, where she was taken after being stricken at her residence. She was born in South Bend, Ind., and had resided in the Battle Creek area most of the time during past 20 years. She formerly was employed as a secretary by DeNooyer Chevrolet agency, and from 1970 to 1977 by the Defense Logistics Services Center at the Battle Creek Federal Center.

She was in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, and was discharged with the rank of sergeant. She was a member of Battle Creek Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, the Auxiliary to the Gen. George A. Custer American Legion Post, a United Methodist church in South Bend, and was active in local bowling leagues.

She is survived by sisters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Berk and Mrs. William (Rowena) Johnson, both of South Bend, and Mrs. William (Dorothy) Humphrey of Detroit; and a brother, Virgil A. Wood of Ojai, Calif.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Farley Funeral Home
