Elizabeth "Betty" J. Strandberg, 92, of Venice, FL, died October 30, 2011.

She was born February 7, 1919, in South Bend, Indiana, to Dwight and Gwen Wertz. She married L. Conrad Strandberg September 21, 1940. He predeceased her July 8, 2003. Together they moved to Venice, Florida, in 1979.

In South Bend she was active in church and community events. She was employed as the host of a live television show for women at WSBT. She was an accomplished artist working in oil and watercolor. In Venice she continued to be active in the community. One of her accomplishments was organizing the Ladies of the Venice Shrine (LOVS) group.

Survivors include a son, Charles D. Strandberg of Falmouth, Maine; a daughter, Gwen A. Sommerfield of Rockford, Illinois; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A private family burial is planned. The family wishes to express our gratitude for the wonderful care given our mother by the staff of Clare Bridge and recently by Tidewell Hospice.
