SOUTH BEND - Mary E. Strykul, 76, formerly of Decatur and South Bend, died Saturday in Martin Luther Memorial Nursing Home, South Haven, after an illness. Mrs. Strykul was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Nappanee.
On Sept. 26, 1939, in South Bend, she married Samuel Strykul. He died Dec. 23, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Steffler of South Haven; two sons, Thomas and David, both of South Bend; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Martha Fogle, Fran Hilgren, Esther Michels and Marguerite Monroe; and three brothers, Don McCuen, Edward McCuen and Albert McCuen.
She was a member of Sweet Adelines, South Bend Chapter, and Calvary Baptist Church, and she was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Celery City Post 6248, Decatur.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Newell Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Decatur VFW.
