Marie P. Przybysz, 87, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, April 5, at Our Lady of Peace Hospital in South Bend. Marie was born on April 18, 1918, in South Bend to John A. and Pearl (Wlodarek) Kowalski.

She was an executive secretary with the former Bendix Corporation for 24 years, and served in the same capacity with the former Studebaker Corporation for 26 years.

On June 27, 1942, as Marie Kowalski, she married Eugene Przybysz, who preceded her in death on April 29, 1960.

Surviving is her brother, John S. (Veta) Kowalski of Mishawaka, Indiana; nieces and nephews, Cindi Sanchez of South Bend, Indiana, John M. (Donna) Kowalski of Culver, Indiana, Greg (Cynthia) Kowalski of South Bend, Indiana, Kevin (Nancy) Kowalski of South Bend, Indiana, Kari (Harold) Hough of North Liberty, Indiana; Walter (Barbara) Jasiewicz of South Bend, Indiana, Dr. Bernida Iqbal of Richmond, Indiana; and many grand and great nieces and nephews.

Sisters, Violet Kowalski, Lucille Collins, Bernadine Jasiewicz and a brother, Harold Koval, all preceded her in death.

Marie is also survived by her lifelong, very best friend, Virginia Kromkowski. Marie’s dog and faithful companion Tammy will be accompanying her on her journey to heaven.

Marie was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the Polish Women’s Alliance, the Sunday Ladies card party group, and was an avid bowler, having competed in many ladies leagues at Beacon Bowl and other venues. Marie was also a staunch Notre Dame supporter and never missed watching her Irish play football when they were on the television.

The family would like to invite friends to call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, today, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a parish rosary will be held at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery.
