Richard B. Collins Sr., 49, 617½ N. Lafayette Blvd., died at 7:10 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital after a two-week illness. He was a salesman for Levy Ward Grocer Co. He was born March 31, 1917, in South Bend and had lived here all his life.
On May 4, 1946, in Detroit, he married Alice Pernazza, who survives along with his mother, Mrs. Augusta Collins, South Bend; a son, Richard B. Jr., South Bend; and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Gebhardt of Timonium, Md., and Mrs. Bernadetta Hearn of Phoenix, Ariz.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Orvis Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Herbert T. Tetzlaff, pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 50.
