Marguerite G. “Marge” (Woodward) Hepting

Marguerite G. Hepting ascended into eternal glory on August 4, 2006 to meet her loving Lord and be reunited with family members gone before her. Marge was born in Clinton, Indiana on March 4, 1917 to the late Alfred and Cora Mae Woodward.
She moved to South Bend, Indiana where she grew up and graduated from high school. After graduation, she moved to Port Huron to live with her sister, Lillian.
She later met and married Lawrence D. Hepting on October 16, 1937. They were blessed with four children, Mary Ann (George) Kish, Richard (Kathleen) Hepting, Donald Hepting and Michael (Connie) Hepting.
Marge was a homemaker who devoted her energies to raising her family with lots of love and guidance. And in later years, her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren provided her with many joys and pleasures. Marge was also known for her delicious strawberry rhubarb pies and peach cobblers!
She had the privilege of spending her last five years as a resident of Mercy Village in Fort Gratiot. There she enjoyed good companionship and the caring of a dedicated staff.
In addition to her children she is survived by nine grandchildren, Stephen Kish, Anne Ange, Kathleen (Robert) Kraft Victor, Joseph Hepting, Jennifer (William) Dionne, Jeffrey (Sunny) Hepting, Julie Hepting, Nicholas Hepting and Andrew John Hepting; five great grandchildren, Jenna and Leah Ange, Hannah Kraft, Samuel Hepting and Jillian Dionne; two great stepgrandchildren, Emily and Robert Victor, II; a brotherinlaw, Robert (Frieda) Hepting; and several nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, February 23, 1980, her son, Donald, March 18, 1997and her five brothers, Walter, Frank, William, Robert and Richard Woodward and her four sisters, Leah Zangerle, Laura Melton, Lillian Hall and Katherine "Mary" Wils.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Church. The Rev. C. Paul Higdon will preside. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Hepting, Steve Kish, Robert Victor, Jim Hepting, Burt Cowan and Bill Dionne. Visiting hours for Marge are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in KarrerSimpson Funeral Home and on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. A Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Capital Campaign or Blue Water Hospice.
