SOUTH BEND - Simon A. Solomon, 72, of 800 N. De Witt Place, Chicago, formerly of South Bend, died at 6:55 a.m. Saturday in the Illinois Masonic Hospital, Chicago. He was a self-employed private investigator. Born Jan. 26, 1918, in South Bend, he lived in Chicago the past 38 years.

On Nov. 21, 1948, in Chicago, he married Bernice Rosenwasser, who survives. Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Roni Ann Levy of Boise (Idaho); a son, Jerry of Chicago; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Jacoby of Beverly Hills (Calif.), and Freda Britton of Los Angeles (Calif.).

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, is in charge local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation
