Harold Alfred Scheib

ST. GEORGE - Harold Scheib, age 68, died Thursday, Aug. 28 at his residence in St. George. He was born April 27, 1918 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Burton W. and Birtha Van Dyke Scheib. He married Winifried Harris on April 28, 1940 in Omaha, Neb.

Mr. Scheib grew up and graduated from high school in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Park College in Parkville, Missouri and was a veteran of World War II.

He lived in Encino, Calif. from 1940 to 1977, where he was the founder and president of Cinema Research Corporation and Research Products, Inc., both of Hollywood, Calif. Mr. Scheib was in the motion business with recognizeds many honors. He was awarded two Academy Awards and one Emmy Award and was a Fellow of the Motion Picture and Television Engineers.

After his retirement in 1977, he moved to Hurricane where he resided until 1984, when he moved to St. George. He had been active in civic affairs and was a member of the Hurricane Lions Club and the St. George Elks Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting and gardening.

Survivors include: his wife of St. George; three daughters, Mrs. Steven (Patricia) Pinkey, Mrs. Allen (Betsy) Crosson and Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Barnett, all of California; six grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Holdeman of Ft. Meyers Beach, Florida.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. George LDS West Stake Center in Green Valley where friends may call one hour prior to services. Private interment services will follow at the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of the Metcalf Mortuary.
