Patsy (Reed) Shumaker

July 21, 1917 – Nov. 1, 2003

Patsy R. Shumaker, 86, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died at 2:06 p.m. Saturday, Nov.1, in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, following an illness. Mrs.Shumaker was born July 21, 1917, in South Bend, to the late Thomas and Irma (Cohn) Reed and was a lifetime area resident until moving to Indianapolis.

On Jan.18, 1941, in South Bend, as Patsy Reed, she married Ka D. Shumaker, who preceded her in death on Nov.11, 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas K. Shumaker of Vancouver, Wash., and Michael L. (Kathy) Shumaker of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Molly, Emily, Kathryn, Stacy and Reed Shumaker;and a sister, Ruth Ann Kidder of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 3, in the chapel of Riverview Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Berger of First United Methodist Church, South Bend, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., is handling arrangements
