Douglas Walter Nurton. aged 19, of 829 South 27th street, died at 9:20 o'clock Friday evening in Epworth hospital after five days' illness pneumonia.
He was born in Barry, South Wales, England, Oct. 2, 1916. and came here, 10 years ago from England. For seven years he was a carrier for The South Bend Tribune and at the time of his death was employed by the Associates Investment company in its offices.
Surviving the youth are his mother. Mrs. Ada E. Nurton, of this city: a brother, Leslie S. Nurton: a grandmother, Mrs. Alice Shupe, of this city, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Nurton, also of South Bend.
He was a member of River Park Methodist Episcopal church and was active in its youth circles, and was a member of the Princes of Syracuse, a junior order of the Knights of Pythias. He was an accomplished violinist and played in high school orchestras.
The body will lie in the Earl Hollis chapel and the funeral will take place from the River Park at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. G. A. Trodie, pastor, will be assisted in the service by Rev. Mr. Luttrell, of Elkhart, Ind. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery in Mishawaka. The body will lie in the church from 1 to 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
