Matilda “Toby” (Moss) Mintz
Oct. 22, 1917 – March 11, 2003
Matilda “Toby” Mintz, 85, died Tuesday, March 11, in her residence in Hollywood, Fla. She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Oct.22, 1917, to Jacob and Esther (Katz) Moss.
In March 1945, as the former Toby Moss, she married Charles Mintz, who survives. She is also survived by their two daughters, Hayya (Ilene) Mintz of Ithaca, N.Y., and Laura Mintz of New Haven, Conn.; two sons, Richard L. (Linda) Mintz of South Bend, Ind., and Dan (Marianne) Mintz of Hinsdale, Ill.; six grandchildren, Jacob, Brian, David, Tahila, Matt and Adrienne; and by a sister, Della Borr of Boca Raton, Fla.
Toby was a member of Sinai Synagogue, past president of the Sinai Synagogue Sisterhood, Hadassah, B’nai-B’rith, and many civic and charitable organizations.
The Forest G.Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in Sinai Synagogue, with Rabbi Michael Friedland officiating. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in memory of Toby to Sinai Synagogue or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
