Richard N. Morgan, 67, of 311 Sylvan Glen Drive, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in his home. The death was ruled a suicide, according to St. Joseph County deputy coroner Dr. Lawrence Curry, and was caused by gunshot wounds in the chest and head. Mr. Morgan retired in 1971 as an accountant for Fabricated Steel Products Corp.

Born Nov. 19, 1917, in South Bend, he lived here all of his life.

On July 3, 1938, in South Bend, he married Ruth Lee, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Morgan is survived by a sister, Barbara Bickel of Goshen; a brother, Charles G. Morgan of Byron, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from noon until the hour of services in the funeral home.

Mr. Morgan was a member of Portage Lodge 675 F & AM, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, Orak Shrine Temple, Mishawaka Shrine Club and Central United Methodist Church, and was a life member of Elks Lodge 235. He was a World War II Army veteran.
