GASTONIA, NC - Frederick Ralph Mendez, 64, mechanical engineer, died Thursday. Memorial mass is 11 a.m. today at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Survivors are wife, Audrey; brother, Dr. F.L. Mendez of Cincinnati; sisters, Mrs. George Khwak of Greenwich, Conn., Miss Mary Mendez, Mrs. Alice Simpson, both of Cincinnati.
