Hammond - Wanda L. Gardner, age 85, of Hammond, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 13, 2002. She was born in Flint, Michigan, on February 1, 1917 to John Irwin and Wanda Seemann Lippincott.
Wanda married Richard Willis Gardner in South Bend, Indiana, on September 14, 1936.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Alexandra Riddle of Munster, Elizabeth (Roger) Kapla of Midland, Michigan and Margaret (David) Rich of Munster; one son, Richard (Bonnie) Gardner of Munster; eleven grandchildren: James (Margie) Riddle of St. Louis, John (Nancy) Riddle of Evanston, Richard (Jill) Gardner of Chesterton, Gretchen (Chris) Benne of Arlington Heights, Jamie (Zak) Naze of Indianapolis, Robert Kapla of Denver, James Kapla of Portland, Oregon, Thomas Kapla of Germany, Margaret Kapla of Midland, Michigan, Susan Jane (Paul) Brown of Portland, Oregon, Jonathan Rich of Munster and three great grandchildren; one sister, Anna Mary (Tom) Darden of Glenview, Illinois and two brothers, John I. Lippincott of Houston, Texas and Edwin (Jodie) Lippincott of Shalimar, Florida.
Her parents and sister, Katherine L. Ovalle preceded her in death.
Wanda and her husband have been involved in many benevolent organizations during their fifty eight years in Hammond. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 6021 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, Indiana on Monday, February 18, 2002 at 12:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Northern Indiana Arts Association Twenty-First Century Fund or the First Presbyterian Church Benevolent Fund would be appreciated.
