MANSFIELD - Retired Mansfield physician Dr. C. Karl Kuehne, 69, of 991 Burkwood Road died Sunday evening at his home following a brief illness.

He was born March 31, 1917, in South Bend, Ind., and had lived in Mansfield since 1948. He was one of the founders of Anesthesia Associates and practiced with the group for more than 40 years. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University. He served his internship in Grand Rapids, Mich., and his residency in Toledo.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, including four years at Guadalcanal and 1½ years in Korea. He was discharged from the Navy in 1965 with the rank of lieutenant commander.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio State Society of Anesthesiologists, member and past president of Richland County Medical Society, staff member of Mansfield General Hospital and Peoples Hospital, and : a member of Westbrook Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Bogan Kuehne; one son, C. Karl Jr. of Stow, Mass.; a daughter, Mrs. Kriss Loughman of Avon Lake; and two grandchildren. Private funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning. Arrangements are being made through the Finefrock Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
