Ernest Leo “Ernie” Kole nee Kolczynski
April 17, 1917 - July 1, 2002
Ernest L. "Ernie" Kole, 85, of Bond Street, Niles, Mich., died following a brief illness at 9 40 p.m. Monday, July 1, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, South Bend, Ind.
Mr. Kole was born April 17, 1917, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to Leo F. and Mary B. (Kajzer) Kolczynski, and lived in Niles since 1946, coming from South Bend.
He retired in 1968 after 20 years of employment with Dalberg Olds Cadillac in Niles, from National Standard Company, Mishawaka, Ind., in 1980, and also repaired CB radios for Niles Radio Supply. Mr. Kole was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, Niles. He enjoyed fishing and computers.
Surviving family includes his children and their spouses: Bob and Pam Kole, Ann and Terry Short, and Margaret and Sam Gregory, all of Niles, and Joseph and Sarah Kole of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, in Saint Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Canon Marian M. Kencik officiating.
Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
Contributions in memory of Ernest L. Kole may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
