Richard Clemens Kaczmarek

Richard C. Kaczmarek, 56, of 1505 Marigold Way, St. Joseph County attorney and assistant city attorney, died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital after two-day illness.
He had suffered an apparent heart attack. He was born on Jan. 22, 1917, in LaPorte.
In 1958, in South Bend, he married Jo Ann Huegel. She survives, along with two sisters, Mrs. Berenice Morrow and Mrs. Gwendolyn Gadomski, both of South Bend, and a brother, Jerome Kaczmarek of Indianapolis.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McGann Funeral Home. services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Kennedy, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Kaczmarek had been practicing law with the firm of Anderson, Kaczmarek, Luber and Sakaguchi. He was a member of the Indiana Club, the Elks Lodge, the American Bar Assn., and the Indiana Bar Assn. He graduated in 1941 from the University of Notre Dame law school and was admitted to the bar that same year. In 1946 he was appointed to the post of assistant city attorney. He served as St. Joseph County attorney in 1947 and 1948.
Memorial contributions may be made to the renal dialysis unit of St. Joseph Hospital.
