MICHIGAN CITY - William K. Hornyak, 74, of 616 Thurman Ave., died at 8:08 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony Hospital. Mr. Hornyak owned and operated Home Heating & Cooling for 30 years. He also was a teacher at Indiana Vocational Technical College for 30 years. He was born May 17, 1917, in South Bend.

On May 18, 1940, in South Bend, he married Elizabeth Lukacs. She survives with a daughter, Kathryn V. Wellings of Columbus, Ind.; two sons, Steven A. of Michigan City and William C. of Irving, Texas; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Pinkola of Port Charlotte, Fla., Rose Mishler of Tulsa, Okla., and Helene Ladewski of Payson, Ariz. 

Mr. Hornyak was founder of the Michigan City Table Tennis Club at the YMCA and a life member of the U.S. Table Tennis Association. He was a past president of the Disabled American Veterans and Michigan City Heating & Air Conditioning Board and a member of the BPO Elks 432 and Loyal Order of Moose 980.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Carlisle Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Monday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Michigan City YMCA
