Woodrow R. Helenburg

Memorial services for Woodrow R. "Woody" Helenburg, 70, of Leesburg, who died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Leesburg, will be at 11 a.m. next Saturday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Helenburg was a retired machinist, having worked at the Torrington Co. for 42 years. He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Bloomington, Ind., and came to Leesburg in 1932 from Indianapolis.

On Dec. 24, 1937, in South Bend, he married Eloise Dixon, who died in 1984. In August 1985, in Elkhart, he married Arlene Barker, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Freya Thomas of Elkhart and Lisa Watts of Coroun, Calif.; a son, Woodrow R., of Fairfax, Va.; and five grandchildren.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elkhart; Osceola Lodge 742, F &AM; Scottish Rite Lodge of South Bend; Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne; and Elkhart Moose Lodge 599.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
