HARDEN, JAMES R., 82, of Largo, died Friday (April 16, 1999) at Largo Medical Center. He came here in 1976 from his native South Bend, Ind., where he retired after 38 years with the former Bendix Corp.

He was an Army veteran of World War II where he served as a radio operator in the 91st Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron and saw action in five campaigns. He was a member of the North Indiana Boy Scout Council, scout master of Troop D 374, a Silver Beaver, a member of Order of the Arrow and chairman of the district training committee. He published several articles in Michiana magazine and other publications. He was an amateur radio operator.

Survivors include a son, James and a daughter, Judith Burris; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. National Cremation Society, Largo.
