Jeanette May (Hagquist) Dice Barcus

SOUTH BEND Jeanette Dice Barcus, 81, of Parliament Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, South She was born on May 4, 1916, in South Bend, and had lived in South Bend since 1971, coming from Park Forest, Ill.

In 1938 she married Richard Dice, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1970.

On. Oct. 16, 1971, in South Bend, she married Ormond L. Barcus, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Rosemarie Elayne Cowger of Markham, Ill.; three sons, Richard W. Dice, Jr., and John T. Dice, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Michael D. Dice of Bartlett, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Alice Snyder and Naomi Kent, both of South Bend, and Orma Jude Rettick of Cassopolis, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; and by a sister, Elsa Brockus of South Bend.

Mrs. Barcus was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Church Women's Club. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star #569, and was a member of the Social Order of the Beaucant.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. David Doane and assisted by Rev. Russell Snyder. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Homewood Memorial Gardens, Homewood, Ill.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 707 Sherman Avenue, South Bend, IN 46616
