SOUTH BEND - Evelyn Cook, 95, of South Bend, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Southfield Village in South Bend. Evelyn was born June 5, 1917, in South Bend, IN, to the late Sander and Fannie (VanDenberg) DeVries. Also preceding her in death were ten brothers and sisters.
On June 12, 1937, in South Bend, Evelyn married Martin W. Cook. Martin preceded her in death on January 10, 1991.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Rifenberg of Mishawaka, Carol (Dick) Watts and Janet (Jim) McCuen, both of South Bend; Barbara (Bud) Magrane of Niles, MI; two sons, Martin (Debbie) Cook of Wakarusa and Thomas (Kathy) Cook of South Bend: 27 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a homemaker and an extremely proud grandmother. She was also a member of the River Park United Methodist Church in South Bend. Visitation for Evelyn will be held today, August 20th, from 3-7 at the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home, and the Rev. Thomas Thews will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
