Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today, at HulettWinstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg for John Daren, 81, of Hattiesburg, July 23, 1998, at Wesley Medical Center. The Rev. Jimmy Dabbs will officiate. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Prentiss Harrell, Austin Ferrell, Joe Spell, Oliver Hord, Tom Cranford, Vincent Zubbras and Dr. Dale Austin.
Mr. Daren was a native of South Bend, Ind., and a longtime resident of Hattiesburg.
He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Albert Allen Bible Class. He was the retired president of the Hattiesburg Branch of Unifirst Bank for Savings and served for 12 years as Commissioner for the Mississippi Regional Housing Authority. He was a member of the Metropolitan Club in Hattiesburg and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Daren of Hattiesburg; one daughter, Anne D. Sarphie of Covington, La., and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time today at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, which is in charge of arrangements
