Eugene H. Burrell

ELKHART, INDIANA/LODI - Eugene H. Burrell, age 71, of Elkhart, Indiana, died on Friday, March 31, 1989, at Elkhart General hospital. He was born on May 9, 1917 in South Bend, Indiana. He was a World War II army veteran.

He was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church in Elkhart, Indiana. Prior to 1965, he was a reference librarian for the Detroit Public Libraries. From 1965 until his retirement in 1980, he was the head of the reference department of the Elkhart Public Library.

He is survived by his wife, the former Bette Krainik; a daughter, Emily (Kenneth) Nitering of Dearborn, Michigan; a step-daughter Mary Hibbard of Anaheim, California; a grandson, Nathan Nitering; and a brother, Kenneth Burrell of Bloomington, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4, at the HARTZLER-GUTERMUTH FUNERAL HOME in Elkhart. Interment will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 6, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Lodi. Reverend S. Stephen Foster of the Lodi United Methodist Church will officiate.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Simpson United Methodist Church of Elkhart, Indiana
