SOUTH BEND - James A. Braden, 92, passed away on Saturday, Sept.
27, 2008, in Hospice House of South Bend. He is survived by his wife,
Carol E. (Miller) Braden; daughters, Vicki Joyce (William) Sharp of
Fishers, IN, and Dawn Marie (Robert) Liszewski of South Bend; and a
son, James A. (Shirley) Braden Jr. of Bloomington, IN. Also surviving
are seven grandchildren, Kim Lemna, Robin Wilson, James Allen, Aaron
Allen, David Dinn, Katie Stanfield and Robert Dinn; and 14 great-
grandchildren.

His parents, Theodore Albert and Henrietta Dorothy Jo Anna (Kohler)
Braden, and two brothers, J. Theodore and Harry Kale Braden, preceded James in
death.

James worked as a technical writer for Bendix Corporation and then in Quality
Control at Wheelabrator until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph
Lodge #45, F&AM, and was a member of the former Avalon Grotto where he served as
Monarch. James was also a member of the Scottish Rite.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Southlawn United

Methodist Church, South Bend.
Dr. Joseph Baunoch, Rev. Ronald Dixon and Rev. Donald Carpenter will officiate.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit
with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30th, in the Palmer Funeral
Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, where a Masonic service
will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to services
in church on Wednesday. Contributions in memory of James A. Braden may be made
to Hospice House, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the American
Cancer Society , 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Online condolences may be
