SOUTH BEND Victor E. Benzur, 72, of 131 S. Holiday Drive died about 2:27 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Benzur retired in 1980, after 40 years as owner/operator of the former Avenue Auto Supply.
He was born Sept. 29, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in South Bend since 1932, coming from Toledo.
On June 29, 1941, in Louisville, he married Eva Barrett, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Vikki A. Johnson of South Bend; a son, Mark A. of South Bend; and a sister, Clara Willis of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
He was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, American Association of Retired Persons, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, William Penn Club, Bowlers Country Club, South Bend d Civic and Democratic Club and River Park Lions Club, He was a volunteer of the American Red Cross and was a veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., where the parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m
