Ethel E. "Pat" (Barnes) Hawkins

SOUTH BEND - Ethel E. "Pat" Hawkins, 73, of St. Louis, formerly of 55407 Meadowview Ave., died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday in Gravos Healthcare Center, St. Louis. Mrs. Hawkins retired in 1982 from the Bendix Corp. after 42½ years of service.

She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Duluth, Minn., and lived in South Bend from 1926 to 1987. On July 4, 1959, in South Bend, as Ethel Barnes, she married Clifford A. Hawkins. He died June 3, 1974.

She is survived by two sisters, Jeanne Moon of Des Peres, Mo., and Lee Ross of Sidney, South Wales, Australia; and a brother, Grover C. Barnes of Mishawaka.

She was a member of Westside Church of Christ, Order of Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter 575, White Shrine of Jerusalem Messiah Shrine Chapter 10, and Local 9 of the United Auto Workers union.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Highland Cemetery. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana
